Client initially found EMLA Construction Ltd through 'Check-a Trade' web site, then subsequently discovered we had worked for their architect previously who recommended us.

Client:

Family of four who moved out for some of the project duration.

Property:

1950s detached house.

Location:

Loft extension in Shalford near Guildford Surrey.

Project duration: Four months.

Financial: Completed to budget.

 

Description of work:

Development of the property into a modern open-plan family home by means of a loft extension, two storey side extension, single storey extension to the side and rear and extensive refurbishment of the majority of the property's interior.

The loft extension (a.k.a. attic extension) involved extending the existing roof as part of the two storey side extension. This included the building of a new dormer with window to the front aspect, to maximise space and light for the additional accommodation and match the existing dorma on the other side of the property.

The loft extension was also included

 

in the complete re-wiring of the house together with re-plastering, tiling and decorating. Additional plumbing and drainage were also installed in the loft extension for two new en-suite bathrooms.

Extending the loft added the following accommodation to the property:

A new master bedrom with new
en-suite bathroom

A second new en-suite bathroom
to an existing bedroom.

Together with the single storey extensions and full refurbishment of all but two of the original bedrooms, the project created a modern, spacious family home consisting:

• Advised client regarding choices of materials, finishes and fittings.
